Lets revisit my kitchen...
Before:
Horrible builder grade cheapy cabinets.
As I expressed before, this was HARD. But in the end, it is completely worth it. Take a look!
After:
These are the cabinets that were routed and glass was installed. I'll teach you how to do that soon.
Overall, this was the biggest project I've tackled and it was time consuming. I used the same technique as my craft room table. But I am a million times more happy about my kitchen that I ever was before. I'd love to install crown molding and replace the back splash at some point. But I sort of want a break from mini-renovations for a bit.

Holy moly Kristina -- this is great! It seriously looks like you have a brand new kitchen. I kept asking myself, "did she replace the floor too? the wall paint?" It all looks a million times better and I love that you replaced some of the fronts with glass.

YAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!!! I have been dying to see how it turned out and WOW, WOW, WOW, you certainly know how to knock our socks off. I LOVE IT!!!!! You really do deserve a standing ovation on this one (and kudos to you for taking your time and doing it right). I can't stop looking at the photos.
ha ha, I just noticed the 'PATIENCE' sign on top of one of the cabinets. I bet you developed some of that through doing this! (see, I am still here, I told you I couldn't stop looking at the photos - I am just about to email this link to my hubby to show him EXACTLY what sort of kitchen I am looking for...).
DAMN GIRL!!! This was worth the wait! The kitchen looks amazing!! You should totally submit it to YHL or Better After - it's awesome!!

Wow that looks awesome!!!! We painted, or should I say my husband painted our doors white when we first moved in our home. I would love for him to replace some fronts with glass. My husband would love that too, ....cough,gag... not really but he's a trooper :) Can't wait to here the- how to- for that...

Step 2. Valspar Flat Latex paint in Swiss Coffee (7002-16)
Step 3.Minwax Policrylic in Satin
And a eggshell finish using Valspar in Woodlawn Silver Brook (5001-1B)

I found you through Kristin of Uncommon Slice... I can only imagine what you went through to get this beautiful result, and I don't know that I'm up to it, (but I might be once I get a quote :)). But I was so interested because I have the EXACT SAME "before" cabinets. I've had them for ten years and have been wanting to paint them white for the past two. A couple of questions for you: 1. Did you do any sanding? 2. Do you still see the grain of the wood? 3. Did you choose to leave the insides the original color? Thanks so much for your feedback.

Did you use the same color white as you did for your craft table AND if you had used a semi-gloss, would you have had to put the protective poly on it?

Michiganhome- 1. Yes, I used a orbital sander to rough up and take off some of the finish. If you don't, the primer won't have anything to hang on to and it'll scratch off easier 2. You can only see the grain of the wood if the light hits it the right way. Otherwise, the primer fills in a lot of the graininess. 3. I also primed, painted and polied the insides (with the exception of the cabinets above the fridge). A lot of people don't but I'm anal.
Jan- Yep! Same color as the craft table. It's a safe color for me I've found ;) I just use flat because the finish doesn't matter since I'm using a satin Polcrylic. So, I'm not sure if you doubled up on a semi-gloss and satin in the Poly if it'd make a big difference.
