I'd like to report that I've emerged from my hidey-hole of Simming it up, but I'm sad to say I really haven't. It's fun and all, but it's a huge time sink and I just don't have a ton of time to waste on it. Maybe I'll have time this weekend.
One another note, I have been looking for a old radio for some time now. I listen to NPR every chance I get. So what better place to have a radio, than in my new craft room? I bought one from the 1960's at Goodwill for $3.00 awhile back but the reception was horrible. A few weeks ago I was scanning my favorite Goodwill and spotted this beauty. It was $9.99. I picked it up, put it in my cart. I wanted it to "talk to me." {If you ever shop with me I do this often. I pick up items and walk around with them while I shop. By the time I'm finished if I still love it, I get it. I'm stupid}
Anyway, I ended up putting him back only to get to my car and realize this old timey radio was meant to be mine. With a little TLC, he fits in perfectly.

Here he is before his makeover.

I roughed him up with some sand paper

I taped off on the areas I didn't want to get marred with paint and primed him.

I used a gloss beige color from Valspar

Tada! Kenya was closely supervising the whole time.

Kinda cute huh? One thing I am stuck on is that little wooden block piece on the front. I can't get it off. Any ideas on what I can do to cover it up?

Super cute; they just don't make 'em like they used to! How is the reception on it?
Perfect! Most radios having a hard time picking up the station that is NPR but this one is perfect :)
Hi Kristina. I found you through Mammarazzi and took the suggestion to visit the blogger who commented before me. That would be you! What a great blog you have!! I'm a follower! I love to redo stuff. I'm a scrapper/paper artist mostly, but dabble in many other crafts as well. LOVE your radio. It's so cute. I'm glad I found your blog.
