I love TV. I like to sit down and turn on the DVR and see what treasures it's recorded for me. Sometimes it'll be Kath & Kim, or John & Kate plus 8, Man Men, Dog whisperer. But there have been a few shows that I absolutely loved and then...they were cancelled. I ran across this list on Entertainment Weekly listing 31 shows that have been cancelled over the years.
Of course, the first one was "Jerico". My husband and I were really pumped about this show. We thought "world coming to an end, aliens...or not?" We watched the first season (or the first 5 episodes before it went into hiatus). Then the second came on and it got weird. Sort of like how "Heroes" has become weird. It started off strong then went down hill. I'm not sad to see this one go.
Number 26 was HBO's two season series "Rome" Just typing the name makes me so sad. I loved this show with every ounce of my being. Every Sunday night, we would turn all of the lights off and watch this show (my husband swore the show looked better in the dark) It was so raw and beautiful at the same time. We actually own both seasons of "Rome" on DVD. My favorite character was Atia and I cried on the last episode. Just because I knew I'd never see another again. If you ever catch a rereun on HBO, watch it and let me know what you think.
"My So Called Life"..... I lived my life so I could watch this show on Monday nights. No really. I was 15 when the first episode came on. I tried to dress like Angela (played by Claire Danes), I found a brown suede/sheep skin Jordan Catelano jacket at the thrift store and bought it. (My Mom actually found it in the attic a few weeks ago and asked if I still wanted it.) I truly loved this show and was devastated when it was cancelled. Now Jordan Catelano (Jared Leto) is in a band...and wears eye liner. So sad.
"Arrested Development" came in at #12. I ran across this show a few years back (when it was on reruns) and loved it. This show is so quirky and the characters are all so different. Micheal seems to be the only "normal" one while he has his Mother who is a diva, his Dad who is in and out of prison. A mental brother who dates Liza Minnelli and a narcissistic sister Lindsay, who hates her husband Gob, played by David Cross. They live in a model home (which their family business owns) and also own banana stands where Micheal's, son George Micheal, works at on the boardwalk. Do yourself a favor, and rent the DVD.
