Geez! I just realized I haven't posted *anything* in well over a month. Well, you are in luck. My Mother has come and gone and I have her room pictures to share! I was lukcy enough to basically complete the room. There might be a little touch of something here or there down the road but for the most part, the room is done!
I took this picture and was so disappointed with how it turned out. I feel like this picture was taken in the '80's. I promise, the bed spread is not metallic.
I'd like to make a quick note about the headboard and the hanging lamp.
I made the headboard with some "foam core" pieces from Lowes for about 10 bucks and 3 yards for faux brushed suede fabric. My idea was to add the batting and secure it taught with a staple gun right? Yeah, not so much with the foam core. I ended up hot gluing everything and reinforcing with small nails. After all was said and done I'm pleased with it. I made these fabric buttons that matched and sewed them through the foam core to make it look like it was a couch back.
The lamp I bought at IKEA and stuck a shade on it. I wanted something a little different so I covered the cord on the wall with a electrical cord cover from Lowe's and painted it the same color as the wall. The hanger is a $4.00 plant hanger that I was able to get on sale in the Garden section at Wal-mart and spray painted it brown. When in doubt, spray paint it brown!
This is just a different view from the door.
I painted, decorated and draped this bedroom for a little over $300.00 and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I think the bedspread set came in at $70.00 from Target, but that is the most that I paid for anything in this room.
I shop on the cheap. If you ever are in the mood for some bargain shopping, call me around lunch time and I bet you I'll be going to somewhere with a sale!
